Seven to the Seventh is the brainchild of choreographer Ana Sanchez-Colberg, which took two years in the making. It was an unprecedented event that connected synchronically 150 artists and their artistic communities, in multiple urban sites, across seven-time zones on the week of 24th-30th June 2019.
The leading cities and lead artists circumnavigated the globe: Athens (Gr), Byblos (LE), Chennai (India), Tokyo (JP), San Francisco, CA (USA), Miami, FL (USA) , San Juan, (PR), Arnhem (NE), Bangkok (T) Jacksonville (FLA), Vancouver (CAN) with more cities and artists joining as the week unfolded!
Each participating city organised local events based on specific focuses relevant to their cities and communities and, through mobile technologies, these local events were linked synchronically to create a virtual space inviting participation through dance. movement, performance, sound, and social networks. Seven to the Seventh instigated active co-creation to celebrate interconnections between local and global presence. By the end of the week over 3.4k participants had engaged with the project both on-sites and remotely.
The event in Athens led by Theatre enCorps Collectif was made possible with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre within the umbrella of Nostos Festival 2019.
